Medimetrix has worked
with over 150 physician organizations as changes in the health care
marketplace created an increased demand for a more disciplined,
professional approach to strategic planning and management. Medimetrix
provides proven frameworks, tools and models that are then customized to
the needs of each physician organization. We have built large physician
organizations from scratch through acquisition, created new groups from
mergers and joint ventures, helped improve the operating performance of
existing practices, developed affiliations with healthcare providers and
health insurers, and have helped to grow these businesses through
effective marketing communications programs.
Our
recent projects include:
450+ physician
multi-specialty group
We developed and utilized an assessment process tool to allow this large
multi-specialty medical group to evaluate and quantify the strategic
value and contribution of each site in their geographically broad rural
network. Using six predefined, weighted factors, individual sites were
assessed based on a common approach using available qualitative and
quantitative data. The result was a scorecard that provided meaningful,
comparable scores supported by data to assist in recruiting, capital
budgeting, payer contracting and planning decisions.
A 400+ physician
multi-specialty group
We worked with an employed physician group that was operated as an
internal department of the hospital to carve-out and establish a
physician-managed organization that operated as a subsidiary of the
health system. We worked hand in hand with physician leadership during
the restructuring process and facilitated the work of essential
committees and subcommittees. Our work also included the development
operating guidelines that gave physicians broad responsibility and
accountability for the organization's operational efficiency and
financial performance.
An equity model
physician organization
We assisted in building an equity model physician organization
consisting of 360 primary care and specialist physicians. This physician
organization owned 50 percent of a physician hospital organization. We
provided interim management services to operationalize the PHO,
introduced medical management policies and procedures, and worked with
the operations and finance committees to define contracting parameters.
A 150-physician multi-specialty
group
Working with medical group leadership, we prepared for and facilitated a
strategic planning retreat with the practice partners. Topics discussed
include key issues such as new service line development, revenue
enhancement/expense control, contracting philosophy/standards,
management needs and partnering options. A recommendation plan with
action steps and timeframes was developed to assist management to move
forward on the retreat outcomes. We continued assisting the group on an
"as needed" basis during this implementation effort.
A primary care
group (partial hospital ownership)
We have assisted this long-standing 50 physician primary care group in a
variety of areas. Partially-owned through an LLC by a local health
system, the physician partners of the medical group own an independent
MSO whose sole client is the medical group. Our project work has
included review and redirection of the original business model;
development of a strategic plan to address new service lines, revenue
enhancement, capital access and partnering issues; as well as the
evaluation and negotiation of an offer by a for-profit to acquire the
independent MSO.
A 200-physician multi-specialty
group
We advised this medical group during a potential merger with another
regional multi-specialty group. Working with outside counsel, we
assessed the strategic, financial, operational, contracting and legal
considerations and advised on deal structure and terms. |
